Hi Angeli:

Life has been so hectic--I've missed visiting my food blogging friends.

This beautiful post--and your husband's poem to you--brought a tear to my eye. The cake is gorgeous and I adore the photo of you and a beaming Shrek cutting the cake.

My husband and I were married in 1984 on the Saturday closest to Valentine's Day. My mother-in-law is Trinidadian and my wedding cake--Black Cake--was made in Trinidad by her cousin and sent up to New York where a baker frosted it with marzipan covered by white icing.

Thanks for this post that commemorates enduring love.

Thank you so much for that comment lorraine - there is nothing like a caribbean black cake :)

I love your wedding day story. How special your cake was made by your mother and decorated by you. Sounds like your day was amazing and filled with love. BTW, how did your husband end up with the name, "The Shrek?"
